I don't recall attending such an emotional Prayer Meeting night like the one tonight. On one hand, we have Fred Chiu sharing his vision of where God is leading him and Angela to sever Him next now their work in Costa Rica is done. Than we have Pastor Byron sharing some sad news about his health.
One of the thing Fred mention is that if you are not crazy about severing God with your life, than don't become a missionary. Cause all the things God will ask you to do for him once you give him total control, you will have to be a little crazy to follow through. You have to plan your life out so that you can best sever God.
You don't plan on saving up to buy a new car or that big screen LCD. You don't plan where to go with your annual vacation. The only things that concern you is how best to spread the Gospel, everything else is just a distraction.
Fred quoted this passage from the bible:
But if I say, "I will not mention him or speak any more in his name," his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannont.Jeremiah 20:9
When so many of us are confused about our direction in life or feel the pressure trying to fulfill our earthly dreams, there are those who have a very clear goal for their life and have spend every waken moment trying to fulfill it.
Fred also ask the question what can one leave behind when our time here on earth ends. Some may want their name in the record book. Other leave behind monument that will last longer than their flesh and bone. But to the crazy missionary, all they want to leave behind is more missionary so even more people will hear the Good News. That is why Fred & Angela is going to China and help train those with the heart to sever God with their life.
I am sure the health situation of Pastor Byron will be announced during church gathering. So I wouldn't go into details here since it is not for me to spread the news. But he also show when you have faith in God and are dedicated to severing Him with your life, nothing in the world will stop you - in sickness or in health.
I think this is the first time I have tears in my eyes during prayer meeting. Good thing not many people from our fellowship show up and saw it roll down my cheek.
