First step toward becoming a Journalist . . .

. . .is by getting your writing on the newspaper, any mean necessary. After weeks of sending in question regarding the Raptors, finally got my name on there!

When I was still a bench warmer with the LBC team last season, I had time to write story about the games afterward. Now that I get more playing time on the AFC Mission team (because I actually improved :p), it is harder to write story about the game. Maybe if I record the game on DV . . .

Anyway, my next step to fame and fortune, getting my mug shot in print. . . .

I Know!

Yesterday on my way to work, something happen that makes me think.

I was on the ramp from 404 to 407 when I saw a VW Golf ahead of me with a rear flat tire. So I stepped on the gas and pull next to the car. I got the driver's attention and pointed to the rear tires and mouthed the words "flat tire". She mouthed the words "I know!" back and than pulled ahead.

So there I was, clicking along at 110 km/h on 407 looking at the VW pulling away doing more than 120 km/h. Before I can make sense of it all, she got off at the nearest exit hopefully to a repair shop.

I guess if I have the chance to ask her why she was going so fast on the highway with a flat tire, she would tell me she was in a hurry to get the tire fixed. Cause I know people who told me they think if they are running out of gas, it is a good idea to go faster so you can make it to the gas station before you run out. (Scientific Fact: The faster you go, the more fuel you burn over the same distance traveled.)

This also reminds me of the many times I saw people flying pass me on the 407 with a spare tire on. It is likely they didn't read the warning on the spare tire that said "Not safe at speed over 80km/h or travel distance of 80 km." An image of the spare tire popping out and the car spin out of control always make me keep a good distance from these people.

So in conclusion, I think when we know something is wrong in our life, we may not always know the best way to fix it. And when we don't ask for help and go full speed ahead hoping to solve the problem ASAP, things can go very very wrong and can affect other as well. So next time you have a flat tire, just call Lewis or Peter. I am sure they will be more than happy to come and rescue you. :)

Special Prayer Meeting Night

I don't recall attending such an emotional Prayer Meeting night like the one tonight. On one hand, we have Fred Chiu sharing his vision of where God is leading him and Angela to sever Him next now their work in Costa Rica is done. Than we have Pastor Byron sharing some sad news about his health.

One of the thing Fred mention is that if you are not crazy about severing God with your life, than don't become a missionary. Cause all the things God will ask you to do for him once you give him total control, you will have to be a little crazy to follow through. You have to plan your life out so that you can best sever God.

You don't plan on saving up to buy a new car or that big screen LCD. You don't plan where to go with your annual vacation. The only things that concern you is how best to spread the Gospel, everything else is just a distraction.

Fred quoted this passage from the bible:

But if I say, "I will not mention him or speak any more in his name," his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannont.

Jeremiah 20:9

When so many of us are confused about our direction in life or feel the pressure trying to fulfill our earthly dreams, there are those who have a very clear goal for their life and have spend every waken moment trying to fulfill it.

Fred also ask the question what can one leave behind when our time here on earth ends. Some may want their name in the record book. Other leave behind monument that will last longer than their flesh and bone. But to the crazy missionary, all they want to leave behind is more missionary so even more people will hear the Good News. That is why Fred & Angela is going to China and help train those with the heart to sever God with their life.

I am sure the health situation of Pastor Byron will be announced during church gathering. So I wouldn't go into details here since it is not for me to spread the news. But he also show when you have faith in God and are dedicated to severing Him with your life, nothing in the world will stop you - in sickness or in health.

I think this is the first time I have tears in my eyes during prayer meeting. Good thing not many people from our fellowship show up and saw it roll down my cheek.
